Note from Sensei:
My name is Vivo Sensei and I am thrilled to be working with your young people. This will be my third year teaching the 4th grade curriculum which focuses on the importance of Bamboo in Japanese culture. During the regular school year, I teach 5th grade. Thank you so much for reading through these details. Please reach out if you have any questions. You can email me at firstname.lastname@example.org
Please provide snacks, lunch, and water for child daily, or sign-up for and purchase hot lunch. Snacks will also be available for purchase at the Farmer’s Market stand.
- glue stick
- pair of scissors
- Pencil Box (Labeled with above items in it)
- box or bag to store projects in
On Tuesday we will be using indigo dye. We will have smocks. Students should come to Gakko wearing clothes that aren’t too new or fancy because some of the projects can be a little “colorful.” We will be outside from time to time so hats and sunscreen are recommended.
- Traditionally the 4th-grade Gakko students visit Bamboo Giant, a bamboo plant nursery, which is located at 5601 Freedom Blvd, Aptos, CA 95003. Please fill out the permission slip if you agree to let your child participate in this field trip on Thursday, June 30th from 2:20-3:30, and turn into your teacher or the administration table. I have enough room in my car to drive all six students and take one more chaperone. If other parents would like to attend they could follow us over. It is outside so as long as we wear masks, we will be well protected from Covid.
- Each class is in charge of assembling a Basket for the raffle during the closing program. I have chosen the theme of ART for our 4th Grade basket. Please consider donating items that would make a fun art basket.
